Victoria, like many modern cities, is victim to an ever-increasing cost of living and rental market. This is often most apparent when a decades-old store front closes down, dragging a through-line to both future and past memories with it. Everyone Who Stood Here attempts to highlight the quickening of the rate of change in our environment around us by encouraging public interaction at the very spaces that have fallen victim. By reflecting passing-by visitors, the project paints a permanent imprint of their presence directly on to the former public space window, forming a different kind of bond between abandoned space and visitor then one that would have happened when that space was open.

On night one the mirror is almost true. By the final night of a run, a viewer's reflection swims through the accumulated presence of everyone who came before: ripples where someone danced, deep imprints where someone stood at the glass a long time, faint tides of ordinary foot traffic.

Nothing is ever recorded. The live image exists only in memory; the system keeps motion, not faces.

The piece wakes at dusk and runs every night of its exhibition, free to anyone on the sidewalk. It asks nothing of its audience except presence. It remembers exactly that.

Built in TouchDesigner. Real-time computer-vision person tracking (on-device, no data retention), optical-flow analysis, compounding memory buffer with nightly bakes, unattended operation with remote monitoring. All equipment interior and concealed.
