Chris Dammeyer is a media artist based in Victoria, BC, working in projection, generative visuals, and live A/V. My work has shown in gallery exhibitions in Toronto, Vancouver, and Tokyo, and I've performed live visuals in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and London, UK — including several years of regular A/V shows as the visual artist in the ambient group WAV_FORMS. Chris' work lives in the liminal space between senses, often which relates to the impermanent and ever changing nature of memory. I came to art through a strange door. I trained in neuroscience, spent a decade in pharmaceutical science, and somewhere in all that reading about how memory consolidates — how repetition strengthens an imprint, how old traces distort what we perceive right now — I picked up the only questions my artwork has ever really asked.

I build interactive installations, generative visuals, and live A/V under my own name and as WAV_FORMS, working in TouchDesigner. My work has shown in Toronto and Tokyo, and I've performed live visuals in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and London, UK. What I keep making is the same thing in every medium: systems that remember their audience. Work where being present changes the piece for the next person, and where the machine's memory is more honest than ours: it keeps the movement and lets the identities go.
